My Story

From the young protégé obsessed with perfection, to the helpless victim sick in bed, to the empowered man you see here—this is my story: the good, the bad, and everything that has made me who I am.

A Life Devoted to Awakening

I am a spiritual teacher devoted to awakening the body, heart, and mind into their natural state of freedom and bliss. Rooted in the Tantric Buddhist lineage, my work integrates meditation, devotional movement, and ritual art into a living path of realization. Everything I share is devoted to clearing what obscures our inherent goodness and the sacredness of life itself.

From an early age, I was deeply curious about the nature of existence — what we’re doing here, why we suffer, and what it means to be truly free. Dance became my first spiritual practice, a way of touching something vast and mysterious. I trained at The Juilliard School and achieved success as a dancer and choreographer, performing and creating work around the world. Yet over time, external achievement began to feel empty. After losing my father and experiencing chronic illness, my life turned inward. I devoted myself fully to spiritual practice, maintaining a daily discipline for nearly a decade, traveling on pilgrimage, and studying with masters from diverse traditions. I’ve been fortunate to receive teachings that have saved my life and offered profound refuge through the enormous challenges of grief, illness, separation, partnership, and the complexities of family and human relationship. It is my deepest joy and honor to share these teachings and witness their power to transform lives — revealing again and again the timeless truth of our shared potential for awakening.

I now live and teach at Shambhala Ranch in Ojai, California, where I steward this sacred land with my partner, Sah D’Simone. Together, we host immersive retreats, classes, and gatherings devoted to awakening through practice, embodiment, and love — teaching that liberation is our nature, not something to achieve but something to remember. Our mission is to help relieve suffering and restore the sacred in all areas of life, bringing these practices into the heart of society where they are needed most, and modeling what an awakened world, relationship, and love can look like.
